How can I boost my credit score?

Is there a certain credit card that I can apply for that will actually boost my credit rating? Will it really help?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Any credit card could boost your credit rating if used responsibly. Balances should be kept low. The closer you are to the credit limit the worst score you will have. A credit score will plummet also if you make late payments or do not pay at least your minimum payment amount. For those who have no credit and are having are hard time getting a regular, unsecured credit card, a secured credit card can sometimes be the answer. With this card an individual will deposit money into an account and have a credit card attached to it. The credit card cannot be used over the amount that is in the depositors account. Making payments on time and not going over your limit will slowly build a person’s credit up. One caveat though is that these cards can cost quite a bit of money in fees. It is best to shop around and read closely the terms attached to each. Outside of credit cards, you can boost your credit by making timely payments on utilities, rent, loans or mortgage. Even a student loan will boost your credit if the payments are timely.
