Visa and Mastercard are the most used credit cards in that most people who use credit cards have one or the other or both in their wallet. American Express is close behind though. More establishments will take Visa and Mastercard than American Express which is another plus in their favor. I would not say they always offer the best rates. Interest rates vary considerably from card to card and bank to bank. Rates also can be dependant on an individual’s credit rating. It is best to shop around for rates. People who are trying to rebuild credit might want to start with a secured credit card. These cards come with an account that a person deposits money into and can only use the card up to what is in the account. It will show up on a credit report how an individual makes payments. Debit or prepaid cards work the same way but do not show on a credit report.
